Doctor Doctor, Give Me the News!

We finally have an OB/GYN!!! Hooray!!! I did not expect it to be so hard to find a lady-business doctor but it was not easy. I hated my regular GYN so we've been looking for about a month. I am not being picky, he was just AWFUL. He didn't tell us anything, didn't explain anything about the journey ahead, medications, foods, things to stay away from, weight gain... he told us nothing. He just threw a bunch of referrals at us and gave snide answers to any questions I asked. He referred us for genetic counseling without an explanation, which seemed odd but I didn't question it. When I called the genetic counseling center for an appointment they couldn't figure out what the heck I was calling for. Plus, my insurance wouldn't cover it because I have no need for it. SOOOO annoying. So needless to say, I began the hunt for a new OB/GYN right away.
We went today to a female doctor at St. Luke's/Roosevelt Hospital and she was FABULOUS. She was so friendly and congratulatory, it was amazing. She told us so many specifics and gave us so much information I couldn't write fast enough. Kevin was even entertained when she rolled her eyes and told me not to be crazy when I explained that I have been entering all of the foods I eat into a pregnancy program online to monitor calcium, iron, calories, etc. I was so bummed. I thought she would be proud of my monitoring, especially considering I don't eat dairy and do not get enough calcium normally. How do people tap into my neurosis so quickly? She was only with me for twenty minutes! Does it radiate from my pores? I'm such a Monica (Friends reference).
So anywho, the bigs and smalls of it is that everything is fine. My blood pressure was high today, which is the first time it has ever been documented as high. It could be related to a lot of things, like the day from h*@l I had yesterday at work that I am still decompressing from. Or it could be that two minutes before she took my blood pressure she told me she was going to have to take a bunch of blood. In case you haven't heard, a blood-giving episode a few weeks ago ended with me being carried by two 5 foot nurses to a bed because I passed out and was snoring for approx. 3 minutes. Needless to say I wasn't wild about the idea of going through that again so I arranged to have my records sent from my old doctor. I'm such a pain. I am also heading to a cardiologist to check out some heart palpitations that are most likely related to the previously mentioned reasons.
All in all I feel great, have no symptoms except the constant hunger and major carb cravings, and am thoroughly loving the increase in the bust area (what can I say? I was seriously lacking in that department for years!)
On Saturday we begin our journey to the inauguration with Paul, Andrea, Sandy, and Tim. We intend to expose our fetus to political influence as early as possible so we thought this was a great way to start.   :o)
