Goodbye Summer- WB style

As we sat on the dock in Old Lyme, CT with the sweet smell of summer blowing through our hair and washing through our toes, it was hard not to cherish the life we live out here on the east coast. It is true that California offers one of the more favorable summer climates in the world, but this weekend California met it's match in Old Lyme, CT. It was sitting there on that dock that for the first time I felt the urge to turn to my companions and enter into a Dawson's Creek style long-winded dialogue about life and its tribulations. As Melissa, Andrea, and I sat on the dock and watched our husbands perform graceful diving moves like the "flying squirrel" and "dog chasing a stick" I couldn't help but think to myself that the setting lent itself to more of a Capeside (home of Dawson's Creek) than a Stars Hollow (Gilmore Girls). I can't think of a better way to end the summer than sitting on that dock with five wonderful friends, watching the last fleeting moments of summer disappear.
My farewell toast to summer....
to wonderful friends, Michigan sauce, long-crotches, challenging puzzles, the Hallmark ice cream stand, and BBQing in the warm summer evening.

So, how were the steaks?!
Looks like you guys had a great time. Just wish we could've been there.
