Two Wild and Crazy Weekends

We have been busy travelers, which is nothing but fantastic. Over the fourth of July weekend we made last minute plans to go to Washington, D.C. to see the fireworks. We went with my friend Melissa, a fellow fifth grade teacher, and her fiance Brian. We made amazing time driving down to D.C. on Friday, arriving at our hotel at 11am. They checked us in early and we hung out in our double master bedroom suite to watch Joey Chestnut defend his hotdog eating title in Coney Island. We headed down to the National Mall to stake out spots for the fireworks around 3pm because we heard there would be huge crowds. This was not the case at all. We ended up dodging rain for hours until the fireworks started at 9pm. It was well worth the wait. They were the best fireworks I have ever seen! (I was disappointed there is not music accompanying the D.C. fireworks like there is when you watch them on TV). After the show it was a madhouse trying to get back to the metro station. We didn't get back to our hotel until 1am. The next day we went to the Air and Space Museum's new extension near Dulles airport and toured the monuments in downtown D.C.  We ended the night with dinner in Georgetown  and headed back to our hotel to relax for the night. As amazing as our travel time was on the way to D.C., we made up for it on Sunday with an 8 hour ride home.
Mexico was our destination last weekend. We flew into Long Beach to catch our cruise ship to Ensenada. We wouldn't normally fly all the way to CA for a three day cruise, but we were joining some friends to celebrate our friend Tim's 30th birthday. It was a blast!!! Way too many events to describe without going on and on. Here is a brief highlight:
Day 1-
1) Sandy was hit in the head when our table umbrella broke (we got a free bottle of champagne out of it)
2) We celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary briefly with cake and an anniversary song from the staff at dinner
3) We made a valiant attempt to go out and dance but we were so tired we didn't make it long
Day 2-
1) We toured El Bufadora (you get to figure it out) in Ensenada and I fought every instinct in my body not to take the little kids selling gum at the docks home with me
2) Formal dinner night
3) Moved our table at dinner because we couldn't handle a second night with the loud, drunk group next to us and made friends with the couple at our new table
4) We saw a comedian/impersonator's show
5) Kevin made it longer than I did, I fell asleep sitting with my friends at the panoramic bar
Day 3-
1) Wine tasting
2) Massage
3) Name that Tune- We got pretty dang close for a Classic Rock theme
4) Champagne on Sandy and Tim's balcony at sunset
5) Dinner
6) The Quest Game- Like a scavenger hunt- Let's just say one of our guys ended up with his pants on backwards and Kevin was wearing lipstick. These pictures will forever ruin Kevin's political career. That sounds much naughtier than it was... it was a blast.
7) I fell asleep at the comedy show at 11:30 (It wasn't that good)

So there you have it. Two wild and crazy weekends and still lots of summer left!
