So it seems like most of the Californianites (yes, I made that up) have heard the news... Kevin was offered a job at a private school in Canoga Park teaching history. What does that mean? We are headed home!
This exciting news is a bit of a mixed bag of emotions since we will be leaving loved ones on the east coast and the life we lived for the past three years. This move will create a clear end-point to our young, married, without children lives and when things are that clearly defined they are a bit more emotionally overwhelming. I have been dragging my feet about telling people we are leaving because it is really sad. I am going into my work in a few hours to let them know I am not coming back next year. I am hoping the baby bump (more like mountain) will invoke some sympathy in the situation.
So as of right now we are moving across country with a newborn, two cats, and all of our stuff AND Kevin will start his new job all within about a week of Q's arrival if he is on time (Boy, we really do like to jam things all up into a short period of time don't we?). Needless to say all of the arrangements have been made already (moving diagrams drawn, apartment rented, excess furniture being sold) and we are now just getting some last minute things together and waiting for the impending arrival of our little boy. I know it seems crazy but I am OCD/Type A to begin with in combination with being pregnant and moving with a newborn within one week of delivery. I want my ducks in a row before Q decides to make his appearance (I am at 37 weeks, full term, in one week).
We anticipate we will have our hands quite full when we touch down in LA so we are asking that everyone wait patiently to see Q. We promise it won't be too long but we would like to get settled before we take Q out and about. It will help our stress in the situation with the moving, new baby, and Kevin's new job hitting all at once. It is also important that Q get settled and in a bit of a routine (I would be surprised if I have breastfeeding down at this point). So for these reasons we have decided to limit initial visits to our immediate family, which means our parents and siblings, for the first little while and then once we are settled we will be very excited to show our little man off to all of our family and friends. We promise to let you know as soon as we are welcoming visitors. Thanks in advance for your understanding. (The overprotective mommy has landed :o) )
Despite the serious tone of this posting (totally unintentional) we are really excited to move home! For now we are going to spend the next few weeks enjoying our alone time, spending time with people we are leaving, and saying goodbye to NYC.

I'm so happy for you guys! Still expecting a call when Q is born, but definitely understand the waiting period. It's hard enough to fit us all in and with a baby and everything else it will be a lot. Just let me know when you're ready... I'll be over when the time comes :). Congrats again!!!!
