Discoveries

Lots of discoveries about myself/baby this week (In the style of David Letterman):
10) People think I am cute when I'm pregnant (lots of comments at work using the word "cute")
9) I don't really have high blood pressure (3rd doctors visit with normal readings!)
8) I have type O blood (this is what I learned from that scary passing out visit)
7) Online Chinese baby gender predictors say we are having a boy! (uses your chinese birthdate and conception date- very high tech)
6) Being as eco-friendly as possible has made selecting baby items very easy because it greatly reduces the choices available (such a blessing for a girl like me who can't ever make up her mind) ** Check out the diapers we are going to give a go- they are super cute and biodegradable/flushable** http://www.gdiapers.com/

5) I am loving afternoon walks with my wonderful hubby when I can get home before dark

4) Not caring about weight-gain has led me to enjoy my pregnancy so much more (Thanks Jessica!)
3) 10 and 11 year olds are much more respectful and helpful when their teacher looks pregnant
2) Sleeping with pillows in various places around the body is much more comfortable
1) I hate being told what to do. I guess I always knew this but being pregnant has provided an invitation to people around me for unsolicited bossiness. Everyone feels entitled to share their opinions about being pregnant and I don't take it that well. It is all in the tone I guess. I get a lot of, "You shouldn't..." "You should..." "Don't ever..." etc. It rubs me the wrong way for some reason. As most of those around me know (especially anyone who has been around me while cooking) I don't handle suggestions well. I guess I am just the type of person who feels like if I wanted to know about something I would ask. I am the first person to run and seek someone out if I need to know something. I also enjoy the "falling on your face" type of learning experiences. I have discovered that most people are a little cutting in the way they offer opinions and it's been a bit of a bombardment lately. As my parents discovered very early on... I will do whatever I feel like doing anyway, even when others try to tell me what to do. In an attempt to make this point seem lighter I will try to explain it one more way- I don't mind kind suggestions, I mind bossy orders and opinions. So please don't think I am asking you not to share your advice because I love it- just don't be bossy about it and understand that Kevin and I fully intend to do things our own way (and we love you all very much)

I agree you do look cute! :) And I totally hear you on the bosiness....my friend who just had her baby would have random people in Target offering up their horror stories and manifestos on how to do things the "right way"...do your own thing for sure! I know oin most cases it comes from a good place, but they sound crazy! :) Love, Lauren
