What makes me even more mad is the major populations who are voting against gay marriage are the populations who have weathered extreme discriminations in their history- and even today. How is this not seen as discrimination based on sexual orientation? I make a point to live my life accepting everyone the way they are- their beliefs, their race, their sexual orientation. I will always defend and fight for everyone to have the right to live their life as they choose- sexual orientation, religion, profession, etc. and for that reason I had to blow off steam on this blog about the discrimination that is overshadowing the wonderful social step forward we experienced yesterday.
This is not in any way an attack on any person or persons who voted against gay marriage. The beautiful thing about this country is that we are free to believe what we believe and we get to exercise our right to vote to make decisions like these and I will always respect the law-making traditions of our country. I am just in the minority on this issue apparently. I am just taking advantage of another great thing about our country- that we are free to express our opinions and feelings openly. So I am exercising that right as the minority on this issue. Feel free to exercise yours in agreeing or disagreeing with me, but just as I will never judge someone for their beliefs, please do not judge or blaspheme me for mine. I love you all and fully respect your beliefs. I am just sharing mine.
(I am closing comments on this post because it isn't meant to start a debate- I hate debating. It's purpose was for me to get something off my chest.)
