I am sorry it has been so long since I posted anything. It isn't that I don't care or want to let you into what we are doing in our lives but the postings would look like this... WORK, SCHOOL, SLEEP, WORK, SCHOOL, SLEEP, GRADE PAPERS WHILE IN TRANSIT, MASTERS PROJECT, NO TIME TO EAT, COUNSEL STUDENTS, WORK, SCHOOL, HW, SLEEP, WORK, etc.
This is a day in the life of a final semester grad student. (Why am I crazy enough to even consider another program after this?) Even though we are busy, we are happy. The business forces us to schedule down time with each other, which also gives us something to look forward to every week. It's nice with all of the crap going on in the world with the economy and instability of jobs. Teaching jobs are few and far between right now, which is scary too.
We have done very little that was social except attend a beautiful wedding in Long Island, dinner at Uncle Bob and Aunt Pat's, and venturing into the city for a burger fix.
Today I took some of my students to meet Patricia Polacco, a wonderful children's author who writes amazing picture books. Just to give you an idea of how wonderful her writing is (in combination with my amazing reading abilities) when I read her book Thank You Mr. Falker to my class this week they literally gave it a standing ovation when I finished. It was a goosebump moment. Her books are touching and relatable and she is a wonderful person to meet.
So we have been living a busy life. No matter how busy I am, I constantly contemplating the world and the major events we are on the cusp of. I feel like I walk around with Simon and Garfunkel's song Sound of Silence playing in my head all of the time. That song is my theme song right now... of my life... of my thoughts.
