Wow, I got really behind on the blogging. I have some good excuses. ("There are no such thing as excuses, just reasons why you didn't do something." Mrs. Boerem would say to her student. She can be so icy!) Anyway... it wouldn't be a blog without a digression.
As for the list of excuses: Kevin and I have been busy negotiating a new apartment, negotiating getting out of our old apartment, I went to Vegas for my best friend Sandy's bachelorette party, and Kevin and I went to DC with my Mom, Dad, and Grandma. Not to mention school and work. I know... we are nuts.
Apartment: We have signed the lease and can move in any time. The problem is that we are totally booked in May unless we move the first weekend, which isn't enough notice to give our current apartment in order to get the required moving permit. Ugh! We did give our old apartment notice via email with valid reasons why we need to end our lease two months early. I definitely included the shootings on that list. That email was responded to by a nasty letter that I received on the last day of my family's visit. We interpreted the letter as informing us that not only do we have to pay the remaining two months rent, but we also have to pay $500 for administrative costs of moving out early. WHAT?! As per my personality, I proceeded to blow a fuse at 1:30am after returning from DC. Kevin called the leasing office (which is better because I have a hard time censoring myself when I feel I am being completely taken advantage of) and found out that the $500 was only paid in the case that our apartment is leased prior to the end of our lease term, in which case we would no longer be responsible for our rent. So that is all good.
Vegas: Woohoo! So much fun. Did I mention I miss my girlfriends so much! I have to say that I am so lucky to have had the same close group of girlfriends since moving to Simi at the age of 12. I am so glad we have stayed close and regroup at all of the major life events, such as bachelorette parties.

Vegas was a good time by the pool during the daylight hours and dinner and clubs in the nighttime hours. Being a type-A personality, I really tried to be go-with-the-flow and I think it went well. We had 13 girls total from different areas of Sandy's life and there were no major incidents. It was a miracle.
The highlight of the trip was Lauren and I running down the strip, back to our hotel after being in a club all night, with throbbing feet. Our heels proved to be too much for us. As we were running (hopping/limping is more what we were doing) we were stopped by two groups of men who were trying to talk to us- it was more comical than it sounds, trust me. Once we got back to the hotel we put on flip flops and took a cab with Mindy and Katie to go on a 150am In n Out run. But alas, In n Out closes at 130 on the strip! We had to settle for Del Taco. FYI- 150am is definitely the right time to see some of the strangest people walking the strip. You know it is scary when you are wishing you were in Harlem instead.

DC: So much fun! I have to say DC is one of the most beautiful cities I have been in. It is so clean and well-planned. It was great spending time with Grams and Mom and Dad. With five of us in one hotel room, it wasn't half bad. Grams was a sport about not having a bed and we did everything we could to make her as comfortable as possible, including two runs to Wal-Mart to get an air mattress (got the wrong pump the first time).

My new favorite picture of Dad and me.

Georgetown is now one of my new favorite cities in the world. I cannot explain it, but I would definitely consider getting a PhD at Georgetown so we could live there for a few years. (Just kidding Mom!)

We went to Jefferson's home in Virginia- Monitcello- as well as Washington's home in VA- Mount Vernon. I was amazed at how beautiful Virginia is. Virginia feels like the perfect setting for a romantic story- there is no other way to explain it.

So romantic...

We got to continue our mission to visit as many ballparks in the country as possible by catching a game at the new Nationals stadium. I loved it- no steep seats for people with a fear of heights! The stadium was really nice. (One of my new favorite pics)

We finished DC off with a stop in Baltimore for an Anderson favorite- Maryland crab.

Back in NYC we went to see Avenue Q- even funnier the third time. Then we took Grams on a carriage ride in central park. A perfect end to a wonderful trip

Hi Ryanne, So glad you found our blog. It has been a long time...like a year! How is your program going? Sounds like you are pretty busy. I heard you are moving to Tamara's building. Yippee! We'll have to hang out sometime.
I loved growing up in Virgina..there is a reason that it is the state for lovers.
